Social media has become an everyday tool for Kenyans. It has been estimated that there are over 39 million internet users in Kenyan, a large number of whom use at least one social platform. Facebook and Twitter have been the traditional favorites, but Instagram gained a lot of favor among Kenyans in 2017. More celebrities and media outlets embraced Instagram, businesses saw the rising potential of setting up Instagram shops, and an enterprising company came up with a novel Instagram Tours idea that has caught on.
So, which Kenyans have made the most of the platform this year and attracted the most followers? Here we rank them by numbers.

The socialite turned entrepreneur comes in at first place with a whopping 1.2 million followers. Her account, being amongst the few that has been verified by Instagram, seems to have morphed from being one where she posts her experiences in different parts f the world, staying at one of the world's best and most expensive hotels to be somewhat a business age where she posts mostly about her make up line, Huddah cosmetics.

The Kenyan comedian who has an impressive following of 1.1 million is taking the media industry by storm. I'm pretty sure you have seen his face in multiple billboards, advertisements and posters where he hosts a tonne of events. Another fact that could possibly draw people to his page his is gorgeous girlfriend, Chantal (@miss.chanty) and their endless emotional posts showing how much they love each other.

The Gospel artist, who won Best Gospel Act Africa Afrimma Awards follows closely behind Huddah with an impressive following of 727,000. In as much as his account has not been verified, he seems to have gathered quite a fan base with his song featuring David Ndogo "Ndogo Ndogo" garnering a viewing of over one million.

Vera, or better yet what she likes to call herself- queenveebossette, is a queen in her own right. She also started her journey to entrepreneurship with her slim tea brand ''veetox herbal tea'' which is seems to be selling off the shells. Her lavish lifestyle is probably what attracts people to her page because she can be seen casually rocking international luxury brands the likes of Gucci, Christian Louboutin's and Chanel from top to toe or being photographed with a full beat face in the first-class lounge of renowned airlines as well as staying in the world's most fabulous and expensive cities- she is evidently a shopaholic. Her figure is probably the topic o everyone's lips with a waist of 24 inches and hips of over 50 inches, wow! Plus, her boyfriend drama that she posts in detail on her social media is the early morning tea that all Kenyans live for.

Our honourable President has gained the favour of the majority and this can be seen with his 716,000 followers. This is an impressive figure seeing that he is not a millennial yet he has still been able to efficiently communicate with Kenyans what a day-to-day life looks like for a President.
