I get a feeling of nostalgia when I think of Cartoon Network, more so The Power Puff Girls cartoon. It was that show about those three girls created by Professor Utonium after he mixed…(say it with me) sugar, spice and everything nice and then accidentally adding chemical X. Well, last year, Cartoon Network introduced Bliss, a new character addition to the three main girls. She was voiced by South African pop star Toya Delazy in a special episode for the African continent. Bliss will be back for another round to save the world.
In June, Cartoon Network will get an all-new episode of The Power Puff Girls starring their sister Bliss who lives in outer space. She will still be voiced by Toya Delazy. The older sister of the three heroines will feature in a new special episode but it's not clear whether she'll be fighting the space villain Sporde or a new one.
Bliss was first featured in September 2017 in an episode dubbed The Powerpuff Girls "Power of Four". The episode garnered a viewership of 210,000 of viewers aged between 4 and 14 years old.
Toya talked to Screen Africa about the role saying," I am so happy to be trusted with this awesome mission yet again and build on the relationship I have with Cartoon Network. We have some super cool projects in the pipeline, which I can't talk about yet, aimed at shining the spotlight on young girls across the African continent. It is going to be very impactful and game-changing - watch this space!"
Your kids might love this so make sure to catch the special episode on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 on Cartoon Network.
