The Waterfront Mall in Karen is home Kenya's latest leisure attraction for all aquaphiles - amateur or advanced; Africa's first inflatable Aqua Park and wakeboard Cable System. Think along the lines of an adrenaline fueled obstacle course a variety of water based activities. Maji Magic Aqua park officially opened its doors to the general public early this year, and is open to everyone from age six-with a parent or guardian- and above.

The Experience

The KenyaBuzz team went on a mission to experience this one of a kind water adventure. On arrival, we were required to sign a disclaimer form which essentially releases the waterpark from any liabilities that may arise.  After being well fitted in wet suits and buoyancy aids, we listened to an instructional briefing followed. We were ready to hit the water!  The experience began with a relatively short swim to the first inflatable obstacle which led us to a ramp with our final tryout being the swing.
The Aquaglide inflatable sports park is Maji Magic's shining star. It has a circuit with climbing walls, inflatable slides, swings, monkey bars and other obstacles anchored to the floor of the lake in front of the mall. They also offer stand up paddle boarding sessions.
My personal favorites were the climbing walls and the trampoline which made me feel like a kid all over again!

Safety is huge priority. The lake bed is lined to prevent any contamination and every few days, they chlorinate the water. The park is in the process of installing a filtration system to remove the lake sediments. Additionally the park's lifeguards are certified by the Kenya Life Saving Federation. They also recently completed a UK lifesaving open water course specific to lakes and aqua parks.
Ben Kelliher, Maji Magic Aqua Park Director, says the park has big future plans, including more attractions over the next few months such as a high rope course, Konex wakeboarding cable system, and aqua zorbing. "We're trying to create some kind of evolution," he said.
