Nearly three months since the release of his "Hapa Kazi" single, and Kenyan rapper Mak Mansa is back with a new project dubbed, "So Fly".
The jam narrates how a night out turns dramatic as Mansa hooks up with a lady heading an organization that he needs to make a deal with. If the new single is anything to go by, the smooth rap melodies of its predecessor "Hapa Kazi" will still be the focus on "So Fly". An additional up-tempo edge with rolling, trappy drums and club-ready bass lines also features on the new banger.
In an attempt to test waters and push boundaries, Mansa raps about where he views himself within the industry. He's also looking at where comes from and where he's headed. "So Fly" is an ironic attempt to underscore all these factors, seeing that Mansa does not indulge in some of the things he raps about! And as he makes it clear, "All you need to be fly in this life is yourself."
With Jay Z being one of the few industry players Mansa looks up to, his stage name is derived from the great Mansa Musa I of Mali. He wants the greatness, but he is very self-aware to know that it takes a certain level of tenacity to be one of the greats and he's ready for the journey. As Mansa says in his debut single, "Hapa Kazi", "No stress, press on, till I get it all" means that he is not coming to play but rather stay in the game.
