While we love everything about movies, a film isn't a live show. A theater show offers you real in-person entertainment. You could be a few inches away from actors as they take you on a journey full of heart, high-energy, and even suspense. This is why you should go to the theater more often and if you're interested in starting out, here's something that might intrigue you.
In Bro-Code, a two-man dramedy, a bank robbery goes wrong, and a security guard with a gunshot wound, two dissimilar bothers trapped in a warehouse and years of estrangement set the perfect stage for Saddam (Xavier Ywaya) and Michael ( Ian Isaboke), to catch up and hash out unsettled scores.
KenyaBuzz interviews the plays conceptualizer and the two stars and they let us in on what it's like to work on a two-hander play and why we should flock to the theater to watch it.
KB: There are not too many two-hander plays in Kenya. In fact, I might go out on a limb and say this is the first one I've come across! How did you decide to use this style of theater and how is it different from other plays?
We wanted to try something that posed a challenge for us so we went for this style
KB: What's the inspiration behind this play?
The dynamics of brotherhood inspired Bro Code

It took four months for us to bring this play to the stage.
KB: What other stage productions have you been involved in?
Kaggia by John Sibi-Okumu and All aboard the Marriage Hearse
KB: You've been in a couple of hit TV shows like Santalal, Sue Na Johnny, Varshita is this your first time on stage?
No. I started my career on stage. I did travelling theatre for a while before I went into TV
KB: What intrigued you most about the "Bro-Code" script when you first read it?
First the fact that this is a two-hander play fascinated me. Second, I love challenges and this was a plus for me since I am a student of arts.

KB: How was your experience in the hit Kenyan movie '40-Sticks' and how is it different from acting on stage?
This was my first feature film and also the first time I was being casted for a main role in a feature film. I brushed shoulders with several seasoned actors and got observe and learn a lot from them.
KB: What do you think of the state of performing arts in Kenya and what can be done to make it even better?
So far there's so much growth and creatives in my generation are really pushing the envelope to make the industry a better place. So far so good.
