The story centers around the Primm family, who discover that they have a singing crocodile in their New York City townhouse. Lyle (who's voiced by popstar Shawn Mendes) is a brilliant but introverted reptile who really comes around when he gets the support he needs.
The Primm family love him but their neighbor Mr. Grumps isn't too happy about Lyle (and everyone else) and sets out to get the Primms evicted and Lyle taken in by animal control.
