Soma Nami is commencing the African Book Fair today, August 1st, at the McMillan Memorial Library in Nairobi. This week-long event showcases an extensive collection of over 10,000 books hailing from more than 50 African countries.
As part of the fair's activities, Book Bunk has organized two tours of the McMillan Memorial Library on Friday, August 4th, and Saturday, August 5th, from 2 to 3 pm. These tours delve into the library's rich history, including its ties to Sir William Northrup McMillan. Furthermore, they provide a glimpse into Book Bunk's ambitious vision of transforming the library into a Palace for the People, encouraging public engagement and participation.

Throughout the fair, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with The Missing Bits project. This initiative aims to introduce attendees to Book Bunk's digitization efforts and invites them to share their personal stories of using the McMillan Memorial Library. Additionally, there will be book donation points available, making it convenient for visitors to purchase African titles while supporting the growth of project libraries for children all across Kenya.
