Dark Romance in "It Ends With Us"

A few years ago, TikTok captivated young adult fiction readers with Colleen Hoover's romance novel It Ends With Us, the best-selling novel of 2022 and 2023. The book, now adapted into a movie, is now showing in Kenya. It follows Lily (Blake Lively) as she starts a new life in Boston, overcoming a traumatic childhood with an abusive father.
Her dreams of opening a flower shop seem to be within reach until she falls for neurosurgeon Ryle (Justin Baldoni), whose abusive behavior mirrors her past.
The situation complicates further when her childhood love, Atlas (Brandon Sklenar), re-enters her life. Critics argue the book romanticizes abuse, a claim Hoover denies. Watch the film and decide for yourself.
