Danilo Carrera is set to take on an antagonist character after many years in Telemundo's new series, Velvet, The New Empire. This will be his first antagonist role since The Double Life of Estela Carillo in 2017.

Velvet, The New Empire (Velvet, El Nuevo Imperio) is an adaptation of the Spanish critical acclaimed series, Velvet, from 2014. With four successful seasons, the show portrayed the glamorous world of a 1950s Spanish fashion house. The story is about Alberto, the heir of a fashion empire who falls in love with Ana, a humble seamstress who works at the fashion house. Their love goes against both their families' wishes and the social rules of the era, which they have to fight against to be together.

Danilo Carrera will take on the antagonistic role of Carlos Aristizábal, an elegant, successful and seemingly perfect man who reveals his dark side when he meets Ana, falling into a dangerous obsession.

"There comes a time when you have so many projects, that you look for different things, you look for different challenges. I love to be the main character, I love to play the good guy, but I wanted to take a break from those characters to do something else in which I try to entertain and woo the audience, so that girls see you and say: 'Oh, I love him! I like that he has that bad side…" said the Ecuadorian actor in an exclusive interview with Hola Mexico!

Other actors that will be part of the series include Yon González, Samantha Siqueiros and Carolina Miranda.
