The remake is part of Televisa's ongoing project called 'Fabrica De Suenos'. The project is aimed at remaking some of Televisa's most iconic Telenovelas into short stories with not more than 25 episodes. These include Novelas such as La Usurpadora which is currently under production.
Rubi was produced back 2004 staring Barbara Mori, Eduardo Santamarina, Sebastian Rulli and Jacqueline Bracamontes. The novella revolved around a beautiful young woman who befriended rich people in order to get money.
Claudia Martin is set to star in the new production alongside Jose Ron.
