Robert Oppenheimer, an exceptional physicist, conducted extensive research and gained valuable experience that ultimately led him to delve into the study and development of the much dreaded atomic bomb.
After attending several prestigious universities, he was recruited by one of his former professors to contribute to the "Manhattan Project," a  U.S. government initiative approved by President Franklin Roosevelt, with the aim of creating an atomic bomb. Swiftly ascending within the project, Oppenheimer was soon appointed as the head of a clandestine weapons laboratory.
Alongside his team at the secret laboratory located in New Mexico, he successfully devised an atomic bomb that utilized nuclear reactions to inflict severe immediate damage on a target, while also leaving lasting effects of radiation that resulted in illness and death over time.

During the "Trinity" test, when witnessing the detonation of the bomb, Oppenheimer famously referenced a verse from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita, stating, "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."
The forthcoming Oppenheimer movie, featuring Cillian Murphy in the lead role, promises an introspective exploration of the man's inner conflicts throughout his life. Presented from a first-person perspective, the film allows the audience to intimately experience Oppenheimer's inner world.
