African food is as diverse as the continent, with over 50 countries offering unique culinary traditions, flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
Despite this richness, many African children are not exposed to the diverse foods available. The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) aims to change this with their kid-friendly book, "My Food is African: Healthy Soil, Safe Foods, and Diverse Diets," part of the Barefoot Guide Agroecology Series.
The book takes kids on a journey through Africa's farms, gardens, markets, and kitchens to learn about the continent's unique, delicious, and healthy foods and cultures. It can be read individually or in groups, using stories, illustrations, information boxes, and fact sheets to explore healthy eating.
