Yemi Alade is undisputedly Africa's most accomplished Female singer this decade. In 2017, she made history by being the only top African act who released an album and EP in the same year. She is currently enjoying the success of her latest banger "Go Down" as she plans to embark on her European tour starting this April.
She is releasing "Go Down" in East Africa, as a continuation of the mega presence and space she commands in the region. In 2018, Yemi is planning to work with more top East African artistes. Her latest Swahili songs were "Nakupenda" featuring Nyashinski and a feature on "911" with Krizbeatz and Tanzanian artiste Harmonize.
Produced by Philkeyz off Yemi's deluxe edition of her third studio album "Black Magic" set for release in 2018: "Go Down" is groovy and has a touch of 90s R&B—making it one of Yemi's most unique new classics. The music video boasts colourful visuals capturing Yemi and her dance crew at their best, getting down to the certified dance song. She enlists leading cinematographer Paul Gambit for the video of the single that comes after a previous hit release: "Single & Searching" featuring Falz.
Yemi asserts that she will continue to focus her efforts across Africa with East Africa treated as a key market. She says: "This is my second home and I appreciate all the love that I get from my East Africa fans. I mean what else can I show for it? I know speak Swahili! From Sauti Sol, Nyashinski to Vanessa Mdee and many other artistes, I have found a lot of inspiration and lessons from my peers," adding, "I am looking forward to coming back soon for more live performances."
