I'm a sucker for romance, and it turns out a lot of us Kenyans are, too! The feel-good Netflix film Meet Me Next Christmas has quickly climbed to number 2 on Kenya's top 10 films list, staying strong since its release. You'd think the cheesy romance would put some people off, but it seems like we're all drawn to Layla's wild love dilemma.
The story follows Layla, played by Christina Milian, who's on a mission to find the perfect holiday romance. After meeting James at a holiday party and feeling an instant spark, Layla agrees to meet him again at the Pentatonix Christmas Eve concert which she finds sold-out when she tries to book a ticket. When tickets are impossible to get, she teams up with Teddy, a charming man who has worked with many ticket brokers in the past and who offers to help her find a way in. As they search the city together, Layla starts questioning if it's James she really wants or if Teddy might be her perfect match.
What really catches my attention isn't just who she'll pick but also why Layla's going to such lengths to reconnect with someone she met only once. Can one meeting really tell you if someone's "the one," or is this just movie magic?
