FilmAid Film Festival, a champion in telling scores of untold stories of refugees and other marginalized populations throughout the world, is happening in Nairobi. Aiming to be the mouthpiece for young filmmakers, the festival will run from Monday to Friday this week at an invites-only gala. Winners will get to wrap fingers around awards.
This year's theme "My Story. My Voice. Your Move" will compile and screen short films produced by young filmmakers from Kakuma and Daadab refugee camps, as well as those of local and international filmmakers.
This unique film festival that palms out a chance to experience riveting stories successfully held screenings at Kakuma and Daadab refugee camps in Northwestern and Eastern Kenya, in the last two weeks.
On the list of short films to be screened include Hong Kong's "Letter to the Outsider," Iran's "Are You Volleyball," and Kenya's "Defying the Odds."
