Kiota School presents "Luanda Magere: The Legend" on July 12th and 13th, 2024, at 7:00 PM at their Kasuku Campus. The play is a folklore of the Luo people of Kenya, about a mighty warrior with unearthly powers and a skin of stone.
In battle, arrows would bend when they hit him. Luanda Magere, whose name means "hard rock," was a legendary warrior whose strength lay in his shadow. Though many tried to uncover his secret, it eventually leaked to his enemies. During his final battle, a rival warrior pierced his shadow, killing him. His body then transformed into a rock, giving him the name Luanda Magere.
Watch this re-enactment of this iconic folklore by the Kiota School performing arts group.
