I think I should take this opportunity to remind Larry that "Samantha" the doll was banned in Kenya by KFCB chair Ezekiel Mutua. He therefore shouldn't take chances by bringing any human-like machine here. What am I fussing about? Well, here are the details.
BBC journalist Larry Madowo is currently in Barcelona, Spain for the Global Mobile Awards and the Mobile World Congress where he is a host. The event, which is all about appreciating technology, saw Larry take a photo with a sophisticated robot, Sophia, which caused funny reactions from tweeps.
Many Kenyans obviously likened it to the infamous sexbot "Samantha". Sophia was "activated" in 2016 by a Hong Kong company and it quickly gained popularity because of its features. It became the first robot to receive citizenship of any country, has appeared on Elle magazine and is a United Nations Development Programme Innovation Champion. Wooaah, okay.
