Seasoned producers and recording companies no longer have the gatekeeping leverage that has locked out many artists from pursuing careers in music. Indie artists have figured out how to use the internet to their advantage.
With a computer, phone and reliable internet, bedroom pop artists are gaining major traction on the digital space with impressive streaming numbers. Heck, Billie Elish , the Jonas brothers and Justin Bieber started out as bedroom pop artists.
Closer home, Indie Rock performer Ace Declan released his debut effort yesterday (Sept 6th 2020). The three track single titled 'Bedroom Anthology' was composed and written by Declan and produced in collaboration with Nairobi producer BlackCodeine.

The tracks were produced and recorded in Declan's bedroom in Jamhuri Nairobi using his personal smartphone and laptop.
The project contains 3 Indie pop/indie rock songs. Declan's vocals are backed by his own original acoustic guitar compositions in concert with drums, bass and other instruments.
"With lack of access to a recording studio, I decided to follow the Do It Yourself route and accentuate that DIY aesthetic in my music" Ace says.
The singles are available on Declan's YouTube channel and Soundcloud page.
