Disney's creation Mickey Mouse will mark, wait for it, 90 years since the first appearance in 1928 in the theatrical film "Steamboat Willie," come November the 18th. Mickey Mouse has given fans fun and laughter, starring in more than 100 cartoons, and Disney is set to lead the unfurling of a series of worldwide celebrations.
Mickey's impact throughout the 90 years will be recognized and celebrated through events and content at local festivities which will kick off this month and proceed to not only the 90th anniversary but also beyond.
As the world flaps wings ready to soar into the space of these festivities, Africa has also joined in, with Disney Africa announcing the launch of the African Campaign of Mickey the True Original, honouring the animated character's personality, heritage and status build in 9 decades.
You can catch Mickey's 90th spectacular, a two-hour primetime special, later this year on M-Net 101, joining stars from film, music and television who will be celebrating the birthday of this universally-acclaimed character.
