The girl named Feriha is the newest addition to NTV Kenya's 8:00 pm block.
The Novela is a Turkish production from 2011 telling the story of Feriha; a girl from a poor family who is full of ambition and struggles to get ahead in life through education. Feriha wins a full scholarship to a private university where she is forced to conform to societal prejudice by lying about her family background to fit in. Feriha's father is a door man while her mother is a house keeper at an upper class neighborhood in Instanbul but at school, Feriha pretends to be from a rich family.
At the university, Feriha meets a rich young man called Emir and the two fall in love with each other. Feriha is however caught in her own lies because she cannot reveal to him who she really is.
A Turkish Novela is a first for Novela lovers who are used to Mexican shows but The Girl Named Feriha is a highly acclaimed show having been screened in numerous countries around the world and is definitely one to watch out for. What are your thoughts about the Novela so far?
