The 8th edition of Reggae in the sun went down last Saturday at Godown Arts Centre. The show was a delight for local reggae fans who enjoyed performances from Kare, Fidemba, and Lavoste backed by the Roots Connection Band. The MCs at the show MC Phillipo and MC Junior Dread.
Reggae in the Sun is the brainchild of John Amollo aka Johnnie Be Good, MC Phillipo and Musical Sheriff who wanted to create a platform for reggae fans to enjoy local reggae and promote homegrown reggae talent.
''It is a day to night event with nothing but pure reggae music to bring out the best of our reggae artists by offering a platform for them to showcase their music and grow their fan base," said Johnnie Be Good, one of the organizers.
So what was fab or drab about Reggae in the Sun?
  • The fans. They were warm, absolutely gorgeous and unbridled in their indulgence to the musical performances.

  • The food was tasty and affordable. The chicken and bhajias served by Khadija's catering team were divine!
  • The event started very late which was a bummer.
