DStv Launches New Channels in Kenya

Hardly a month has passed since DStv added six channels (CBeebies, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Brit, TCM, MTV and Maisha Bongo) to its lower-tier subscribers and yet there’s more good news in store.

From Monday October 26th, VUZU and M-Net Family will be launched in Kenya to DSTV Premium, Compact Plus, Compact and Family subscribers. “We are very pleased that M-Net Family and VUZU will now be available to audiences across sub-Saharan Africa. These channels are designed to, respectively, offer fun family-focused and youth-focused entertainment with a mix of programming genres,” says the CEO of M-Net Sub-Saharan Africa, Yolisa Phahle.

VUZU is an edgy entertainment channel for urban African youth and the young at heart that features a mix of international hit series and shows across a wide variety of genres. It will be available on DStv channel 116, joining its premium sister channel on 114, VUZU AMP.

VUZU is poised to become the new go-to channel with its mix of informative street culture news segments on V-Entertainment and wide variety of genres ranging from drama, reality, music to magazine and comedy shows.

M-Net Family on channel 162 is the other new channel Premium, Compact Plus, Compact and Family subscribers can look forward to. It’s a general entertainment channel packed with a variety of high quality international content that will form part of a great family buffet of entertainment. Lined up to air on M-Net Family include: Project Runway, The Face UK, The Talk and many more.

DStv Premium subscribers can look forward to “even more top-notch, boundary-pushing shows that have tongues wagging worldwide” on M-Net Edge.

Phahle adds that the two new channels, alongside the grittier, adult-focused M-Net Edge allow DStv to cater for different but equally important M-Net audiences.

M-Net Edge on DStv channel 113, known for its thought-provoking international series, will not only continue its premiere first run-programming alongside iconic shows but will also be the dedicated home of higher age-restricted programming.

On M-Net Edge, viewers will also be able to indulge in binge-viewing opportunities on weekends and early evening double bills where the previously screened episode of a series will lead into a brand new one.
