Al-Nassr and Portugal national national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo has completed another milestone by becoming the first person on the Meta-owned Instagram platform to reach 600 million followers. This record comes less than a year after he reached the 500 million followers' milestone in November 2022.
The 38-year-old forward is followed by his arch rival Lionel Messi who has 482 million followers while pop star Selena Gomez makes the top three with 427 million followers.
Ronaldo also topped the Forbes list of highest-earning athletes for the third time (first since 2017), and also Guinness World Records title for the highest yearly earnings for a sportsperson in 2023.
Forbes estimates that Ronaldo has a staggering net worth of $500 million with endorsements playing a significant role in his wealth and include companies like Herbalife, Armani and Tag Heuer. According to a list compiled by the Instagram scheduling tool Hopper HQ, the football star earns a whopping $3.32 million per Instagram post.  His Instagram account is also estimated to have gained 150 million followers since May 2023.
