On Sunday (10th February 2019) Coke Studio Africa hosted an exclusive launch and viewing party at the Sankara Hotel Nairobi, in celebration of the premiere of the highly anticipated 2019 edition of the Pan-African music show, this year dubbed 'Coke Studio Africa 2019'. Coke Studio artists: Khaligraph Jones, Naiboi, Nazizi, Ethic, Moji Shortbabaa and Nadia Mukami and producers Majic Mike and Viola Karuri joined a host of guests including Coca Cola Executives, Coke Studio Africa band and production crew, celebrities, influencers and Kenya's top media at the premiere event.
Now on its sixth year, Coke Studio Africa viewers of the show should expect to once more watch more than 25 talented stars drawn from across Sub-Saharan Africa. The Kenyan artists set to feature on this year's show include "Vimbada" hitmaker Moji Short Baba who will be making his Coke Studio Africa debut alongside Naiboi - the "2 In 1'' hitmaker, First lady of Hip-Hop Nazizi, music sensation Ethic of the "Lamba Lolo" fame, fast-rising star Nadia Mukami; Kenyan hip-hop heavyweight Khaligraph Jones, crowned Best rapper in Africa at 2018 AFRIMMA Awards will be making a return to the show for the second time.
The new season of Coke Studio Africa will be a celebration of different musical genres and cultures. Once again, lovers of the show will experience new and exciting music fusions; from covers to throwbacks and original compositions. The music acts and producers will be drawn from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Nigeria and other countries across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Other East African artists set to feature on the show this year include Rayvanny, Harmonize, Nandy, Jux and Mimi Mars from Tanzania, from Uganda, we have Sheebah, Fik Fameica, King Saha and Alvin Kizz; Ethiopia will be represented by Rophnan, Abush Zeleke, Mahlet, Bisrat and Yared Negu.
Coke Studio Africa is a non-competitive music collaboration show, which seeks to bring together, and celebrates the diversity of African music and talent. It also gives upcoming artists the opportunity to work with some of the best local and international music and production talent. The artists are drawn from different genres, eras and regions and put in pairs to create a modern and authentic African sound through musical fusion. As the artists interact and produce music documented by the show's producers, they also get to learn about each other's music and styles while exchanging cultures. The show takes the viewers inside the recording studio to watch a diverse range of artists.
Catch the new season of Coke Studio Africa every Sunday at 8 PM on Citizen TV, KISS TV, K24 TV and ST Swahili; 10 PM on KTN and NTV and 4 PM on Switch TV Kenya. The show will also air every Monday at 11 AM on Maisha Magic East. Coke Studio Radio Hour will be air every Saturday at 2PM from 16th February on Radio Citizen, Radio Maisha, Milele FM, Nation FM and NRG Radio.
