Zoë Kravitz showcases her talent not only in front of the camera but also behind it with her directorial debut, "Blink Twice." This psychological thriller revolves around Frida, a cocktail waitress and nail designer, who receives an invitation, along with her friend Jess, from the disgraced billionaire Slater King, to a private island. Initially depicted as a luxurious escape, the island's darker side is soon revealed. Frida uncovers a sinister plot involving memory-stealing flowers, potent hallucinogens, and unsettling experiments on unsuspecting guests.

Kravitz's clever and innovative directing creates a suspenseful atmosphere that grabs the audience's attention. Her background as an actress undoubtedly helps her bring out the actors' subtle acting qualities.

Although captivating, Blink Twice does have a few notable setbacks. The elaborate story occasionally becomes lost in its complexity. Viewers may feel overwhelmed by the maze-like plot, which includes hallucinogens and memory modification, resulting in a complicated narrative. Some plot twists may seem forced or unclear due to the deeply layered mystery, which can detract from Kravitz's otherwise excellent movie direction.

Kravitz's narrative decisions and visual aesthetic make Blink Twice an engaging experience even despite these shortcomings. Her debut offers a novel perspective on the psychological thriller genre and demonstrates her creative vision and adaptability. It also sets a high standard for future projects.

Reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes rank the movie a 73% while viewers at 68%. The critics consensus states:

"A bold and memorable debut that thrusts Zoë Kravitz into the turf of directors to watch, Blink Twice is a live wire of a film."
