How far would you go to find someone you love? In The Electric State, the character Michelle, played by Millie Bobby Brown, travels across a crumbling America in search of her missing brother, with only a mysterious robot as her guide and protector.
Watching the Electric State, I expected an intriguing mix of heartfelt drama and futuristic adventure as it touches on themes of loss, human connection, and the dangers of runaway technology.
However, I was disappointed with the execution as the film struggles to balance the searching of a missing brother and the high-stakes sci-fi thriller elements, making it boring.
On the other hand, the visuals are stunning! From the barren landscapes to the strange, half-functioning robots scattered throughout, the film looks incredible. Millie Bobby Brown fans will also be impressed by how she delivers a good performance, giving emotional depth to a character who could have easily felt unrelatable.
Audiences seem to agree that it's a letdown from its rating of 15% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.0/10 on IMDb. Unless you're a die-hard for sci-fi films or a huge fan of Millie Bobby Brown, this one might be worth skipping.
