The ninth season of Lord of the Skies (El Señor de los Cielos) is set to premier on Telemundo Africa this November.  This also marks the show's final season after the star, Rafael Amaya, decided that he would not return for another season.

Dubbed "The Beast Awakens", the new season will follow Aurelio as he returns to his violent nature. After being betrayed and his son Ismael arrested, Aurelio will unleash a wave of violence in the country as he plans to take revenge and defend his family. With new and old enemies to neutralize, Aurelio will have no mercy and will release the beast that turned him into the notorious Lord of the Skies.

"Ending my character in 'El señor de los cielos' with this great ninth season fills me with great satisfaction and gratitude. I am filled with pride for the evolution of the character of Aurelio, as well as the series over the last eleven years. I am now ready for a new chapter in my career…" Amaya said during an interview with to People en Español .

The new season will include performances from top Mexican actors such as Africa Zavala,  Thali Garcia, and Arturo Peniche. It will premiere on Telemundo Africa on November 11 at 11:00 pm.
