Rebecca was able to trap Jose Emilio with her pregnancy but this will now become a problem because she has lost the baby. Jose Emilio decided that they would end their marriage and he would take care of the baby but Rebecca did not like it so she threatened to get rid of the baby. She thought this would keep Jose Emilio by her side but it only gave Mauricio, Jose Emilio's father, an idea to get his revenge on her.

Rebecca had tried to kill Mauricio after he extorted money from her. He knew that the baby she was expecting was Misael's and therefore said he would not reveal this if she gave him money. Instead of paying him, Rebecca tried to kill him but he survived. Mauricio asked to meet her once he was back and offered her a drink. Rebecca did not know that the drink was drugged and she ended up having a miscarriage.

Jose Emilio ended up finding out that Rebecca was at the hospital since she did not have money to pay the hospital bills. She therefore asked the nurse to tell him that she still had the baby but her pregnancy was delicate. This caused Jose Emilio to return home to Rebecca, ending the plans he had made to get back together with Angelli.
