Alejandra is no longer with us on Laws of Love. She had taken a gunshot wound during a shoot-out at  a restaurant and was on her way to recovery but she didn't make it. From our previous update, Alejandra was brain dead and the doctor told her parents that she might never wake up.

The situation with Alejandra left a dilemma for her parents as well as Ricardo, because they did not want to let her go. They were hoping that she might wake up some day but with little hope from the doctor, she would only spend the rest of her life connected to a machine. Jaime, Paula and Ricardo eventually made the call to disconnect Alejandra, a decision she had already sited in her will. They did it to honor her wishes. Alejandra's death left everyone devastated, more so Ricardo and Carlos who loved her dearly. Their quest now is to find out the truth behind her death and punish those who were behind it.
The departure of Ana Brenda Contreras (Alejandra) from the show was a decision they had to make after she was cast on CW's Series Dynasty. As the main protagonist in the show, her absence leaves a huge void and it will no longer be the same without her.
