Liam Neeson has truly embraced a range of roles as the "angry dad" action hero, leading to the categorization of these movies into distinct sub-genres. His latest film, Retribution joins the ranks of Taken and Memory as yet another entry in the series of movies where our favourite "angry dad" is out to get someone who harmed/wants to harm his loved ones.
In the movie, Neeson portrays Matt Turner, a businessman based in Berlin, whose personal life and complex international dealings are rapidly crumbling. His two teenagers, Zach and Emily are constantly squabbling and his wife, Heather is contemplating divorce.
Then Matt receives a call from an anonymous source, informing him that his car - with his kids in the backseat - will detonate unless he adheres to a series of intricate and increasingly horrifying instructions.
