Boomplay, Africa's leading music streaming app have announced a landmark-licensing agreement with the world's leading music company, Universal Music Group (UMG).
Boomplay's 32 million users across the continent can now stream music by some of the biggest international artists whose catalogs are under UMG; Eminem, Rihanna, Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5, 6lack, Lil Wayne, J.Cole, Bob Marley, Brenda Fassie, Ella Mai and many more.
Here's what the signed pact covering multiple markets in Africa sets on Boomplay's table. The streaming platform reigning in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria and Ghana will have swift access to UMG's catalog, effective as from when pens slid and carved signatures on the pact.
It's a game-changer calling for celebratory crack of fireworks by Boomplay, given UMG is the first ever major music company to license it.
