Okay, it is official - 2017 belongs to Nyashinski. He just keeps on breaking records and raising the bar with every new jam that he puts out. His newly released song titled HAYAWANI finds a somber and slightly world-weary Nyashinski in peak form.
Hayawani is Swahili for monster or beast. Song producer Cedo is on point with the old-school beat - a mix of Benga notes and backing gospel choir vocals that will make you want to go back to church. Cedo's audio work here is crisp, clean and easy on the ear. Hayawani continues the genius producer-rapper partnership that gave us Malaika and Mungu Pekee.
The song's lyrics are very touching and Nyashinski manages to entertain while educating at the same time. The song touches on the ills of the world: Greed, poverty, injustice and violence. The title of the song perfectly labels all that the song is about and well defines the nature of it all. Nyashinski's skills as both a singer and rapper are awesomely represented in this song. The words make you think and meditate on all the harms that the human race set on each other.
The accompanying video is timely in today's Kenya. The visuals are beautifully shot by Tonament of Absolute Media Pictures. Check it out below.
