Monkey Man is Bollywood's actor Dev Patel's directorial debut. His character Kid's primary motivation is revenge. Inspired by the story of Hanuman, the Monkey God, passed down by his grandfather, Patel modernizes the tale as a tribute to his family.
Kid, survives the destruction of his village and the death of his mother, Neela (Adithi Kalkunte). Earning a living in an underground fight club managed by Tiger (Sharlto Copley), Kid's fortunes change when he secures a job at Kings Club under Queenie (Ashwini Kalsekar).
Starting as a dishwasher and advancing to a cocktail server, Kid strategically positions himself to seek revenge against two prominent patrons: Rana (Sikander Kher), the ruthless police chief, and Baba Shakti (Makarand Deshpande), a revered but sinister guru.
Assisted by Alpha (Vipin Sharma), leader of the hijra community, Kid undergoes transformation and training, emerging as a formidable fighter to accomplish his mission.
