Overview
Wanjikũ is a one-woman show (with musical accompaniment) that touches on the displacement of original language and culture that was a result of the Christianising and colonising process in Kenya. The play is a meditation on, and the need and longing for, identity. Using actual words spoken by the people she interviewed, Mũmbi wrote the play to demonstrate how a journey into the personal lives and names of these women can help us discover that which is universal about our human condition.
