1111 is an animated short film based on the true events of multi-disciplinary artist and activist Nekoye Ommeh. Nekoye grapples with her journey of discovering that the idea of a truly liberated Africa that she stands for in many of her artworks is interwoven with the idea of an individuals’ mental health, a liberation of the mind. Her liberation came during a moment of catharsis when she was scribing her book, Africa Aura which the film is an adaptation of.
