Last Saturday, Kenya's national under-20 rugby team, Chipu, secured their spot in the semi-finals of this year's Barthes Cup tournament with a resounding 44-20 victory over neighboring Uganda at Nyayo Stadium.
Led by coach Curtis Olago, Chipu dominated the first half, heading into the break with a 29-13 lead and setting themselves up for a chance to reclaim the Junior championship title.
In the next stage of the tournament, Chipu will face off against Namibia, while Zimbabwe will take on Tunisia. The U20 Barthes Trophy serves as the premier junior rugby competition in Africa and acts as a qualifying event for the World U-20 Rugby Trophy.
The winners of the annual eight-nation contest will be crowned African champions and earn a ticket to the World U-20 Trophy, which is scheduled to take place in July at Nyayo Stadium.
