Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is celebrated annually in June. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize and celebrate LGBTQ individuals in our society who face brazen prejudice in their everyday lives.
This month, KenyaBuzz shines a light on Letoya Johnstone. A transgender woman living her life unapologetically in a society that stigmatizes, discriminates and subjects people like her to attacks because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Letoya Johnstone is a super accomplished mid-20's fashion stylist, catwalk coach and high fashion choreographer for runways. She is also the founder and owner of modelling agency Toy Toy Models. She's worked with the who is who in the fashion industry in Kenya including the likes of Connie Aluoch, Kemunto Cutler, Vanita Bhatia, Aulgah Nato and Akinyi Odongo.
She's worked as a stylist for Eve Woman and True Love Magazines. Letoya became the first ever transgender woman model to be the face of Black Opal test model.
Letoya's life mantra is, "Whatever is working against you can work for you if you learn and master the power of reverse."
Here's Letoya serving us some of her fierce looks:
