Overview
According to the World Health Organisation, it is estimated that one in three women will have been a victim of gender-based violence. Although the manifestations of this violence may take very different forms, the underlying challenges are often similar: stigmatization, lack of support for victims, and judicial systems that are sometimes insufficiently adapted. Kenya and France, despite having different socio-cultural and economic contexts, both face these challenges, and have developed distinct instruments to address them.
Expert panelists from France and Kenya will explore the legal frameworks and responses to GBV and femicide in both countries, examining the challenges and opportunities for reform.
