Overview

Embark on a Transformative Journey with the FilmAid Film Festival

Join us for the 17th annual FilmAid Film Festival, a remarkable celebration of storytelling and resilience, taking place from September 10th to 20th, 2024, in Dadaab and Kakuma, with an engaging follow-up event in Nairobi from September 24th to 26th, 2024. This year, as we proudly commemorate 17 years of inspiring change, the festival continues its mission of projecting hope and transforming lives.

As a powerful platform, the FilmAid Film Festival fosters connections between refugees and their host communities, highlighting the profound impact of the creative economy. Through compelling narratives and personal stories, the festival shines a light on the barriers faced by these communities while celebrating their resilience and the strength of the human spirit.

Experience Cinema Under the Sun

At this year's festival, we invite you to enjoy an extraordinary open-air Screening Under the Sun, where films will be shown in a natural, outdoor setting, reflecting the raw beauty and simplicity of life in the refugee camps. This experience allows viewers to immerse themselves in the powerful stories of hope and resilience under the vast African skies.

Discover Stories Through Art: Pop-Up Gallery

Complementing the screenings, the festival will also feature a captivating Pop-Up Gallery, showcasing visual art, photography, and cultural exhibits that highlight the stories, struggles, and triumphs of the refugee communities. This interactive gallery will offer guests a deeper understanding of the narratives told on screen, creating a multi-dimensional experience that merges art and film.

Featuring a diverse range of films that showcase the rich tapestry of voices, cultures, and experiences from the Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement, and Dadaab Refugee Camp, this festival goes beyond cinema. It stands as a testament to unity, perseverance, and the transformative power of storytelling.

We invite you to be part of this extraordinary event—one that transcends film and celebrates the courage and creativity of communities overcoming adversity.
