Super Mario Bros., the popular Nintendo video game featuring two plumbers, is reported to be made into a fun-packed animated movie. Illumination Entertainment who are behind the success of "Minions", "Despicable Me" and "Secret Life of Pets", are reportedly in talks with Nintendo to produce the animation.
For all of us who grew playing the game, we simply cannot wait for this one. To be honest, I didn't even know the names of the characters (Mario & Luigi) back then - yeah, not forgetting the "pablikan pablikan" game that turned out to be 'public van', who knew? - but I enjoyed every minute I played it.
Super Mario is enjoying a sort of revival among the younger generation. This movie announcement follows Nintendo's recent negotiated deal with Universal Parks and Resorts to create attractions around the two main characters, Mario and Luigi, in their parks in Florida, California, and Japan. Nairobi could definitely use one of those. In fact, how about a theme park for all popular animation characters?
We don't know about potential release dates for the Super Mario movie yet, but Illumination Entertainment currently has four untitled films slated for release in 2021, 2022 and 2023. I will be crossing my fingers and toes till the deal is done.
Super Mario is a platform video game that was developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game really sold well when it was released in the 80s and has been popular since then. There have been several installments of the game. In one installment, players had to guide Mario to rescue Princess Peach. The latest installment is 'Super Mario Odyssey'.
