In an electrifying culmination of skill, strategy, and passion, 18-year-old Tsiaro Manuela Fanomezantsoa, known in the gaming world as "Kimi," etched her name in history as the first-ever Swahili E-sports Champion. The adrenaline-fueled event took place at the Nairobi Comicon (NAICCON) on the weekend of November 18th-19th, 2023.
Kimi, a Tekken prodigy from Madagascar, faced off against seven formidable opponents from across the continent.
In a post-victory interview, Kimi expressed her excitement and hopes for the future of e-sports, especially for young girls aspiring to enter the gaming arena. "I hope my win encourages more young girls to take an interest in e-sports".
The organizers of the Swahili E-sports Championships echo Kimi's sentiments, envisioning a future where young female gamers have ample opportunities to showcase their talents in the gaming realm. They aim to foster an inclusive environment, creating platforms for emerging female gamers to compete, learn, and grow within the e-sports community.
