An Cailín Ciúin (A quiet girl) is an Irish coming-of- age story. It is director Colm Bairéad's debut feature, adapted from Claire Keegan's book  "Foster". The story revolves around nine-year-old Cáit, who lives in a family where she receives little affection from her father.
Sent to spend the summer with her aunt Eibhlín and uncle Seán, Cáit begins to blossom under their care, particularly as Seán becomes more affectionate. However, as summer ends, the harsh realities of life come to the forefront, leading to difficult decisions. Catherine Clinch's exceptional performance as Cáit brings depth and emotion to the film, making it a work of both artistry and heartbreak.
An Cailín Ciúin has received critics praise and was nominated for the 95th Academy Awards in the 'International Feature Film' category.
The Kenya Irish Society (KIS) has organized a special screening of An Cailín Ciúin at Westgate Cinemas on 27th April from 4:00PM with an afterparty at Tapas Ceviche bar. Get your tickets from KenyaBuzz.
