Artistic director Cooper Rust and her team at Dance Center Kenya have done it again! They'll be showcasing their latest production Coppélia, a classic ballet originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon with music composed by Léo Delibes. It has endured as a beloved masterpiece since its premiere in Paris in 1870. Now, this timeless tale will come to life on the stage at Braeburn Gitanga's prestigious theater from on the 24th and 25th of February.
The ballet follows the story of Franz, a young man enthralled by the enchanting Coppélia, who he believes to be a beautiful girl residing in the workshop of the eccentric inventor Dr. Coppélius. However, Franz soon discovers that Coppélia is, in fact, a life-sized doll crafted by Dr. Coppélius. The ensuing narrative unfolds with humor, romance, and delightful mischief as Franz navigates the whimsical world of the inventor's workshop.
Under the guidance of DCK's dance instructors and choreographers, the production promises to showcase the exceptional talents of the country's youngest aspiring dancers.
