Samantha will do anything to get rid of Angela because she is expecting a child with her husband, Alvaro, and this has put a strain on their marriage. This has resulted into a serious fight with her father, Gerardo. She tried to make Angela go back to Real Del Mar with her mother, Adela, by threatening to send report Adela to the authorities since Adela was on the police's wanted list. Her plan however failed because Adela found out and turned herself in.

Samatha therefore resorted to blackmailing her own father. Since she inherited her mother's shares at the Vega hospital, she decided to get Gerardo kicked out as the hospital president so that she could fire Angela herself. She called for a board meeting in order to put the decision to a vote but she ended up losing. Everyone trusted Gerardo to run the hospital and they did not think Samantha was experienced enough to do it.

When the second plan failed, Samantha kicked Gerardo out of his house!  Gerardo went home after a long day at work at the hospital, only to find the locks had been changed. Samantha had also inherited the house from her mother and she gave Gerardo an ultimatum. She wanted him to fire Angela from the hospital and she would allow him to go back home. Gerardo refused to give in to her demands and ended up sleeping at the hospital. When Angela found out, she offered to let him stay at the tenement house and the doctor was quite touched. He was hurt by Samantha's actions but was grateful to Angela, whom he now considers a daughter.
