Vincent Mbaya is an actor, director and cinematographer. He made his acting debut in 2000 and was for 3 years part of a number of local and international TV and film projects. He appeared in 2003's Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life as a tribesman.

He then went on to get documentary training through Medeva Kenya followed by TV Drama training through Mediae Kenya before joining Makutano Junction in 2004 as a production assistant/runner. His skill and interest saw him promoted to the camera department as an assistant. Within three seasons he’d risen through the ranks to be the show’s Director of Photography (DOP).

In 2006, Mbaya was second unit director on Kibera Kid; and in 2007 he took up a similar role on yet another short film, The Knife Grinder's Tale.

Mbaya worked as Head of Camera and Lighting on The Knowzone, the first Kenyan hour-long studio-based children’s show on Citizen TV in 2009. He had his first gig directing a TV drama on Junction Junior, a children’s drama show within The Knowzone. Following that, Mbaya directed commercials and took up directorial and camera roles on various television productions.

In 2012, he was named the director of the TV docu series Shamba Shape-Up after being a camera operator on the series for three seasons.

Mbaya has directed and been the D.O.P for numerous commercials including but not limited to: Indomie Noodles, Naivas Supermarket, Sossi Soya Chunks, Unaitas Microfinance and Royco.

He worked behind the cameras of the international awards-winning and critically-acclaimed Tales from the Bush Larder that took viewers on a Kenyan culinary adventure.

The actor who attended Lenana High School can be currently seen in the new series Skandals Kibao that airs on KTN.
