I've always avoided horror. Not because I think I'm too cool for it, but because I genuinely love my sleep; and scary movies have a way of snatching that away from me. I also tend to find the genre a bit repetitive: the same tired plotlines of haunted dolls, demonic possessions, or characters who split up in the dark for no reason. Most of the time, I walk away wondering what the point was. But until Dawn does something different, it's made even a horror-skeptic like me curious.

The story follows Clover, whose sister Melanie disappeared under mysterious circumstances. A year later, she and her friends return to the valley where it all happened, hoping for closure. What they find instead is a masked killer, a terrifying chase through an abandoned visitor center, and one by one, they're all murdered. But here's the twist: they don't stay dead. Every time they're killed, they wake up at the start of the same evening. Creepy? Absolutely. But also clever.

Until Dawn plays with time loops and mystery, stacking suspense with psychological layers and that nagging question: why are they trapped in this nightmare? And honestly, why did Clover and her crew wait a whole year to search for answers after Melanie disappeared? A year feels like forever when someone you love goes missing. That delay adds another strange tension to the story. What has changed now?

Still, it's this mix of fear and intrigue that makes Until Dawn feel different. It's not your typical horror flick packed with cheap jump scares. Instead, it's a slow, chilling unraveling; a bloody puzzle stuck on repeat, where each loop digs deeper into the truth.

For once, it's not about braving the fear; it's the mystery that's pulling me in. I don't just want to be scared, I need to know how it all ends…. just maybe with the lights on.
