The 19-year-old comic, who scooped the African Social Star award, made the announcement on Monday via Twitter, “I won the E! People’s choice award!!!!!â€. E! also confirmed the news via Instagram, “The people have voted! ? Elsa Majimbo is our #AfricanSocialStar of 2020! ? LET’S CELEBRATE!â€. Elsa bagged the coveted award amid serious competition from Africa’s industry titans in entertainment. The nominees included South Africa’s Zozi Tunzi and Sho Madjozi, and Nigeria’s Dimmah Umeh among others. Winners of the remaining 43 categories spanning across movies, television, music and pop culture will be announced November 15th when the PCAs air on E! ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Alex Trebek Passes On
Long-running hit series “Jeopardy!†host, Alex Trebek, has succumbed to cancer at age 80, according to TMZ. "Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends,†read a tweet from the show’s official account on Sunday. Last year, Trebek announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. “Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancerâ€, he said in a video posted on Instagram. In the video, he reassured fans that he was “gonna fight this†and “beat the low survival-rate statistics for this disease.†Having featured in more than 8200 “Jeopardy!†episodes, Trebek's contract had been renewed in 2019 for three years. His last episode, however, is scheduled to air December 25th. Trebek is survived by wife, Jean, and his three children – Matthew, Emily and Nicky.Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. ‘Mosul’ Trailer Released
Netflix has released the official “Mosul†trailer. The Matthew Michael Carnahan-directed action film follows a police unit from Mosul that fights to liberate the Iraqi city from thousands of ISIS militants. The official synopsis reads: When ISIS took their homes, families and city, one group of men fought to take it all back. After inexperienced Iraqi cop Kawa (Adam Bessa) is rescued from a harrowing firefight by the elite Nineveh SWAT team, he’s quickly inducted into the rogue squadron, a band of ten brothers-in-arms led by the wise Major Jasem (Suhail Dabbach). Under constant threat of attack, the unit embarks on a dangerous guerrilla operation, determined to wipe out an enemy base and restore order to the lawless territory. ‘Mosul’ airs on the streaming platform November 26.
