French Doctors Slammed For 'Racist' COVID-19 Comments Against Africans
Two French doctors are facing backlash over 'racist' coronavirus comments on national TV. The doctors, Jean-Paul Mira and Camille Locht allegedly suggested that Africans could be used as guinea pigs for testing the COVID-19 first trial vaccines. "If I was a bit provocative, I would say that we could go and do tests in Africa. They haven't got masks, no treatment, no intensive care system, we could go and test there," said Mira, the head of the intensive care unit at Cochin Hospital in Paris. He went further to compare Africans with prostitutes where he said, "In prostitutes, we try things because we know that they are highly exposed and that they do not protect themselves." They sparked criticism across social media through #AfricansAreNotLabRats for the better part of the weekend. Two French doctors think a COVID-19 vaccine should first be tested on people in Africa.
