01 Dec 2014 | By KRU

Shujaa finished second at the Confederation of African Rugby Sevens tournament after losing 38-5 to South Africa in the cup final played at the Prince Edward School in Harare, Zimbabwe on Sunday 30 November 2014.

The defending champions trailed 12-5 at the interval, Jacob Ojee scoring the sole try as the Chris Dry led South Africans scored 19 unanswered second half points to run off with the crown.

Shujaa reached the final with a 29-5 semi final win over Tunisia. They lead 19-0 at the break through tries from Shaban Ahmed, Jacob Ojee and Martin Owillah. Ahmed added two conversions. They would score two more tries in the second half through Samuel Motari and Ojee who landed his brace before the Tunisians scored a consolation try late in the match.

The team had earlier finished top of Pool B, this despite losing 14-12 to Uganda, a result that proved academic as their superior try count gained them pole position.
