Porsche has long been an envied car brand and both their SUV and Cayenne have become popular options for buyers. The carmaker expanded into the Kenyan market in March of 2014 with a showroom on Mombasa Road’s Sameer Business Park. 

If you’re looking to get yourself one, here are a few insights and facts you will want to know about the Porsche brand:

1. The company’s full name is Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, founded by Ferdinand Porsche in 1931 and also founded the Volkswagen Automobile.

2. Porsche brought the iconic Volkswagen Beetle overseen by Adolf Hitler to his exact standards.

3. Porsche’s company logo was based on the coat of arms of the Free People's State of Württemberg of former Weimar Germany (West Germany), which had Stuttgart as its capital.

4. The first car under the Porsche name was the Porsche 356.

5. Porsche is in nine other African countries other than Kenya.

6. Models sold in Kenya are Boxter, Macan, 911, Panamera, Cayman and the Cayenne.

7. Porsche Kenya beat other luxury car brands in 2014 selling 82 units from January to September.

8. The most basic engine in the Porsche brand is the 2.5 L (2499 cc) flat six- cylinder on their Porsche Boxster. A similar engine is found in a Toyota Mark X.

9. As per their website, the cheapest Porsche goes for Ksh 10.495M which is the Porsche Boxster S and the most expensive goes for Ksh 23.861M which is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
